Sunday Brunch at the Rainbow Room – New York City’s Most Iconic Restaurant

Sunday Brunch at the Rainbow Room (65th floor of the Rockefeller Center) is the quintessential New York experience! A definite MUST! I’ve visited NYC 10 times, and of all the things I’ve seen and done, this was by far the most memorable! For a full overview of the experience, please visit my blog post on Sunday Brunch at the Rainbow Room at http://www.tawnabrown.com/?p=2644.

Munchies: Anthony Bourdain

Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations takes us on a brass-knuckled culinary tour of New York. He starts us off with amazing cured meats and cheese at Salumeria Rosi before heading to the distinguished Wakamba cocktail lounge. After a few beers to cleanse the palate, we end the night with one of the best pieces of meat we’ve ever had at Bourdain’s old base of operations, Brasserie Les Halles.

Chinatown Brasserie Restaurant & Bar – New York City – on Voyage.tv

Visit http://voyage.tv/ for the best HD travel videos in the world.

The third venture from New York restaurateurs John McDonald and Joshua Pickard (Lever House Restaurant, Lure Fishbar), Chinatown Brasserie is a Disneyland of Asian cuisine. And while the food will take you on a journey of different tastes and textures, its the decor that elevates this New York restaurant to amusement-park status. Silk tapestries, cork sculptures, banquettes modeled after imperial beds and vintage photographs evoke the experience of first-generation Chinese émigrés. With a signature cocktail in hand and Peking duck in front of you, youll feel as though youve stepped back in time to the days of old Chinatown New York.

The Menu: Executive Chef Joe Ng tailors flavors to the American palate, highlighting the contrast of salty-sweet and the bliss of fried foods, while employing unusual ingredients such as pickled plums, flowering chives and fuzzy melon.

The Must-Have: This restaurant consistently pops up in the press due to its creative, sumptuous and relatively inexpensive dim sum. Choose among several varieties of hand-formed dumplings, including crabmeat and pork soup; roast duck and shrimp; and watercress with shrimp.

Munchies: Jeepney

On this episode of Munchies, we visit Jeepney, the bustling restaurant in New York City’s East Village, to learn what Filipino cuisine is all about. Then we hit the town with head chef and owner, Miguel Trinidad, and his business partners, Nicole Ponseca and Tomas De Los Reyes.

First, they take us over to their Chinatown staple, Nom Wah Tea Parlor, where they spend every New Year’s Day. Nom Wah’s owner, Wilson Tang, teaches us about the finer points of eating soup dumplings and a little Chinatown history. Buzzed off of pork broth, we head over to hang with Jeepney’s neighbors at Ducks Eatery, where we sample the goat’s neck with shots of potent homemade Mezcal.

The crew from Ducks Eatery joins us for a nightcap as we stumble over to the bar Pouring Ribbons for world-class cocktails and some hilarious stories from their colleague, Topher Chung. We finish off the night with a leisurely stroll back to Jeepney, where a whole set of friends is waiting to crush an epic Kamayan feast. Enjoy!
